CLS Mooting Representatives Programme 2024/25

CLSBMS is excited to announce the expansion of our Mooting Representatives Programme for the 2024/25 academic year!

We are seeking passionate and dedicated students from all courses at the City Law School to join our subcommittee and help shape the future of mooting at our institution.

By joining our Mooting Representatives Programme, you'll not only contribute to the success of our society but also ensure that the interests and needs of all CLS students are represented in our mooting initiatives.

Programme Overview

As a Mooting Representative, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between the Bar and Mooting Society and the diverse student body at CLS.

This programme aims to ensure that every student, regardless of their course or level of study, has a voice in our society and access to valuable mooting opportunities.

Positions Available

We are specifically looking to recruit:

  • 2 LLB Representatives

  • 3 BVS Representatives

  • 3 GDL Representatives

  • 1 SPP Representative

  • 1 LLM Representative

  • 1 GELLB Representative

Key Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to the organization and execution of mooting competitions hosted by CLS, including the City Scholar's Moot and the Four Institutes Moot.

  2. Act as a consultant to the Bar and Mooting Society committee, providing insights and feedback from your respective courses.

  3. Help promote mooting activities and opportunities to your peers.

  4. Assist in identifying and addressing the unique needs and challenges faced by students in your course regarding mooting and advocacy skills.

  5. Participate in regular subcommittee meetings and contribute ideas for improving the society's initiatives.

Application Instructions:

Reflect on your personal journey towards pursuing a career in law and your experiences in moot court or other advocacy-related activities. Specifically, address the following points in your response:

  • Motivation and Aspiration: Describe what motivates you to pursue a career in law.

  • Advocacy Experience: Discuss your previous experiences in moot court competitions or other advocacy-related activities. Highlight any specific challenges you faced, how you overcame them, and what you learned from these experiences.

  • Collaboration Skills: Discuss how you have employed effective communication skills during your educational journey so far, and how that would help you in the CLSBMS’s sub-committee.

  • Personal Attributes: Identify key personal attributes or skills that you believe will make you an effective advocate and a valuable member of the CLSBMS team. Examples might include resilience, analytical skills, or the ability to present arguments persuasively.
